A silicone suturing pad built in three layers — epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous fat — so a needle passes through changing resistance rather than uniform rubber. That layered feel is what makes practice on it transfer to real tissue. The pre-cut patterns cover straight lacerations, curved wounds, V-shaped flaps and stellate tears, giving practice at the closures each actually demands rather than repeating the same straight line. The silicone takes a needle cleanly without tearing out at the pass and holds a knot under tension, so both the throw and the tension can be judged honestly. Each pad takes a large number of passes before the patterns degrade. Washable and reusable; wipes clean with soap and water.

  • The phone version is genuinely clever

    Dr. Lakshmi Narayanan Verified purchase

Using a resident's own phone brings the cost right down and it folds flat enough to take home. Ours are practising far more often as a result.

  • Great for the price, camera is basic

    Dr. Sunita Deshpande

Image quality is adequate for training purposes though clearly not theatre standard. For learning triangulation and knot tying it is entirely sufficient.

  • Structured boards are the right exercises

    Dr. Priya Ramanathan

Peg transfer, precision cutting and knot tying are exactly the tasks that transfer to theatre. Good that they are included rather than sold separately.

  • Camera output works with any monitor

    Dr. Manish Rawat

Plugged straight into an existing display with no proprietary hardware needed. Set up in under ten minutes.

  • Our residents use it daily

    Dr. Imran Shaikh Verified purchase

Set it up in the skills room and it has been in near-constant use since. Port angles feel realistic and the practice boards cover the drills that actually matter.

  • Layered pad feels realistic

    Dr. Meera Iyer

The three layers give proper changing resistance through the pass — much closer to real tissue than the flat rubber pads we used before.

  • Pads last well

    Dr. Suresh Pillai

We get a good number of sessions out of each before the patterns start to degrade. Washes clean easily between users.

  • Good compact option

    Dr. Anand Kulkarni Verified purchase

The small box fits a desk, which means it actually gets used. Working volume is tighter than the large one but fine for repetition drills.

  • Q

Does the Android trainer need a particular phone or an app?

Asked by Dr. Imran Shaikh · 14 Aug 2026

    A

Any reasonably recent Android phone or small tablet will work, using the device camera app. There is no proprietary software to buy. The mount holds phones and small tablets.

  • Q

What is included in the set?

Asked by Dr. Neha Agarwal · 30 Jul 2026

    A

The camera, five instruments covering grasping, dissection, scissors and needle holding, connecting cables and the structured practice boards. The large and small sets differ in box size, not contents.

  • Q

Does the trainer need a special monitor?

Asked by Dr. Kavita Menon · 02 Jun 2026

    A

No. The camera outputs standard composite video and will work with any monitor or capture device with a composite input. Many users connect it to a laptop through an inexpensive USB capture stick.

  • Q

Should I buy the large or the small trainer?

Asked by Dr. Vikram Sethi · 02 May 2026

    A

The large box is the one for a teaching institution — port angles are more realistic and several trainees can be taught around it. The small box suits individual practice and, because it fits a desk, tends to get used far more often.

  • Q

How long do the suture pads last?

Asked by Dr. Lakshmi Narayanan · 27 Apr 2026

    A

It depends on how densely they are used, but each pad takes a large number of passes before the patterns degrade. They are washable and reusable, and are inexpensive enough that most teaching units buy them in quantity.
