A toothed grasper with interlocking 2x4 teeth, for a grip that will not slip under traction. The teeth mesh rather than meeting face to face, so tissue is captured between them and held positively — the reason this pattern is used to retrieve specimens and to hold structures that are being taken out. It grips where a fenestrated jaw would slide. It is deliberately traumatic, and that is the point: use it on tissue that is coming out, and reach for a Babcock or fenestrated jaw for anything staying in the patient. The teeth are ground to interlock cleanly without pinching along the jaw edge. 5 mm standard insert, stainless steel, fully autoclavable.

  • Consistent quality across the set

Nurse Manager, Lotus Multispecialty Verified purchase

We ordered eight different jaw patterns and the finish is uniform across all of them. Good sign for a supplier.

  • Fine tip, gets into the plane

    Dr. Ritu Chawla

Tapers properly to the tip without splaying under load. For clearing Calot's triangle it does exactly what a Maryland should.

  • Well finished for the price

    Dr. Sandeep Joshi Verified purchase

No burrs or rough edges anywhere on the jaw. Seats cleanly on our existing handles.

  • Blade timing is correct

    Dr. Priya Ramanathan

Cuts only after the seal completes, which is the safety behaviour you want. No incidents in several months of use.

  • Genuinely atraumatic

    Dr. Anand Kulkarni

We handle bowel with this and see none of the marking that a toothed jaw leaves. The fenestration works as intended.

  • Good grip, as aggressive as advertised

    Dr. Lakshmi Narayanan Verified purchase

Holds absolutely everything, which is the point — just make sure you are using it on tissue that is coming out. Exactly as described.

  • Gold coating makes a difference

    Dr. Kavita Menon

Charring is far less than our previous steel sealer, so seal quality stays consistent through a case and there is much less cleaning between applications.

  • The alligator saved us on a dropped stone

    Procurement Head, Medicare Group

Long narrow jaw reached behind the liver edge where nothing else would go. Retrieved it in a couple of minutes. Worth having on the tray for that reason alone.

  • Q

How many inserts would you recommend for a starter set?

Asked by Procurement Head, Medicare Group · 24 Jul 2026

    A

A Maryland dissector, an atraumatic grasper, a Babcock, a toothed grasper and a scissors insert will cover most general laparoscopic work. Add the alligator for retrieval and a sealer if you have a suitable generator.

  • Q

Can the jaw inserts be sharpened or reconditioned?

Asked by OT Technician, City Care Hospital · 02 Jul 2026

    A

Scissors inserts can be reground a limited number of times. Grasper jaws are not resharpened — once the serrations wear, the insert is replaced. Inserts are individually stocked for that reason.

  • Q

Will these inserts fit handles from another manufacturer?

Asked by Dr. Kavita Menon · 08 Jun 2026

    A

They use the standard quarter-turn 5 mm insert fitting, which is common across most manufacturers. Send us a photograph of your handle collet and we will confirm before you order.

  • Q

Which grasper should I use on bowel?

Asked by Dr. Rajesh Nair · 23 May 2026

    A

Use the Babcock or the atraumatic pattern. Both are designed to hold without crushing. Do not use the toothed patterns on bowel — they are intended for tissue being removed.

  • Q

What is the advantage of the gold coating on the sealer?

Asked by Nurse Manager, Lotus Multispecialty · 13 Apr 2026

    A

Gold conducts better than steel and tissue chars onto it far less readily, so seal quality stays consistent across repeated applications and the jaw needs much less cleaning during a case.
