A ring-handle needle holder for surgeons who prefer a conventional finger-and-thumb grip to a palmed spring handle. The ring gives a more direct sense of how hard the needle is being held, which many find steadier on fine suture. Six jaw patterns are available and interchange on the same body: straight, tooth 1/2, tooth 1/2 upper curved, curved without tungsten carbide, self-riding and right curved. The self-riding jaw is the one to reach for when the needle has to be seated one-handed in a deep field — it draws the needle into the correct plane as the jaw closes rather than requiring a second instrument to set it. Stainless steel, ratcheted, and fully autoclavable. The jaw inserts are stocked separately so a worn face is a spare-part order, not a new instrument.

  • The titanium weight difference is real

    Dr. Farhan Qureshi

On a long intracorporeal suturing run the reduced weight is genuinely noticeable — much less hand fatigue by the end of the case. Worth the premium if you suture a lot.

  • Carbide jaws grip properly

    Dr. Imran Shaikh Verified purchase

No rocking of the needle even on fine suture, and after months of use the faces show no sign of dulling. Being able to replace the inserts rather than the instrument is the sensible design choice.

  • Excellent instrument, premium price

    Dr. Manish Rawat

No complaint about quality at all — it is a very good needle holder. Just be aware it sits at the top of the range. For occasional suturing the steel version is adequate.

  • Spring handle works as it should

    Dr. Anand Kulkarni

Opens cleanly between throws without releasing grip. The action has stayed consistent through repeated autoclaving with no weakening.

  • Good ring handle feel

    Dr. Lakshmi Narayanan Verified purchase

I prefer a ring to a palmed handle and this one has a direct, controlled feel on fine suture. Ratchet engages positively without being stiff.

  • Non-magnetic is a bonus

    Dr. Sandeep Joshi Verified purchase

Small thing, but the titanium being non-magnetic has been convenient in our hybrid theatre. Performance otherwise excellent.

  • Jaw options are genuinely useful

    Dr. Ritu Chawla

Having six patterns on one body means we stock one handle and a set of inserts rather than six instruments. Saves tray space and money both.

  • Self-riding jaw is the one to have

    Dr. Rajesh Nair

Seats the needle correctly one-handed in a deep field, which saves a second instrument and a lot of time. If you are choosing one jaw pattern, choose this.

  • Q

    Is the titanium version non-magnetic?

Asked by Dr. Lakshmi Narayanan · 23 May 2026

    A

Yes. Titanium is non-magnetic, which some units find useful in hybrid theatres and around imaging equipment.

  • Q

Which jaw pattern should I choose if I am only ordering one?

Asked by Dr. Farhan Qureshi · 08 May 2026

    A

The self-riding jaw is the most generally useful, because it seats the needle correctly one-handed in a deep field without needing a second instrument. Straight and tooth 1/2 are the next most commonly ordered.

  • Q

Is the titanium version worth the extra cost over stainless steel?

Asked by Dr. Ritu Chawla · 27 Mar 2026

    A

It depends on how much you suture. For long intracorporeal suturing the roughly forty percent weight saving makes a real difference to hand fatigue. For occasional suturing the stainless steel version performs the same and costs considerably less.

  • Q

Does the ratchet weaken with repeated autoclaving?

Asked by Dr. Lakshmi Narayanan · 25 Mar 2026

    A

It should not. The mechanism is designed for the full service life of the instrument. If a ratchet becomes loose or fails to hold, contact us — that is not expected behaviour.

  • Q

Can the jaw inserts be replaced when they wear?

Asked by OT Technician, City Care Hospital · 24 Feb 2026

    A

Yes — the tungsten-carbide inserts are replaceable and stocked as spare parts. That is the main reason to choose a carbide-faced holder over a plain steel jaw.
