A retractor that enters the abdomen straight and then coils. Passed down a standard 5 or 10 mm port in its rigid form, a control at the handle draws the articulated segments into a wide, stable curve that lifts and holds the left lobe of the liver clear of the hiatus. That matters in fundoplication, sleeve gastrectomy and any upper-GI approach where the liver obscures the field. Because the coil spreads load across a broad contact area rather than a narrow blade edge, it holds the lobe securely without the capsular bruising a rigid retractor tends to leave. Locks in the deployed shape and releases back to straight for removal through the same port. Stainless steel throughout and fully autoclavable.

  • Very good, takes a little practice

    Dr. Imran Shaikh Verified purchase

First couple of times the deployment felt unfamiliar, but after three or four cases it is quick and intuitive. Holds position reliably once locked.

  • Does the job well

    Dr. Kavita Menon Verified purchase

Good exposure and stable. Slightly heavier than I expected but that is likely why it stays so rigid once deployed. No complaints on performance.

  • No capsular bruising

    Dr. Suresh Pillai

The wide contact area really does spread the load — we have not seen the capsular marking that our old rigid blade used to leave. Locks firmly and releases cleanly for removal.

  • Sturdy and well finished

    Dr. Farhan Qureshi

No play in the articulation after several months of regular use and autoclaving. The finish is smooth with no rough edges anywhere on the shaft.

  • Excellent liver retraction

    Dr. Manish Rawat

Deploys smoothly through a 10 mm port and holds the left lobe without slipping. In sleeve cases the exposure at the hiatus is exactly what you want and it stays put for the whole procedure.

  • Frees up an assistant

Nurse Manager, Lotus Multispecialty Verified purchase

Once it is locked, it holds without anyone maintaining it, which effectively gives us an extra pair of hands on longer upper GI cases. Worth it for that alone.

  • Q

Can this be passed through a 5 mm port or does it need 10 mm?

Asked by Dr. Arjun Bhatia · 20 Aug 2026

    A

Both sizes are available. The 5 mm version passes through a 5 mm port; the 10 mm gives a wider deployed platform and more lifting capacity. For adult upper-GI work most surgeons prefer the 10 mm.

  • Q

Does the articulation lock securely once deployed?

Asked by Dr. Meera Iyer · 01 Aug 2026

    A

Yes — the lock holds the deployed shape under load and will not release until the control is deliberately operated. It returns to straight for removal through the same port.

  • Q

Is it compatible with a standard table-mounted holding arm?

Asked by Dr. Priya Ramanathan · 13 Jul 2026

    A

The shaft diameter is standard and fits common holding arms. Tell us which arm you use and we will confirm compatibility before you order.

  • Q

How is the articulated section cleaned?

Asked by OT Technician, City Care Hospital · 05 Jul 2026

    A

It is straightened for cleaning, which opens the segment joints for flushing. Standard enzymatic cleaning followed by autoclaving is sufficient; no disassembly is required.

  • Q

Will it damage the liver capsule during a long case?

Asked by Procurement Head, Medicare Group · 12 May 2026

    A

The coiled platform spreads load across a broad contact area rather than a narrow blade edge, which is specifically to avoid capsular injury. As with any retractor, periodically releasing and repositioning during very long procedures is good practice.
